Handled Espresso Cup in Sediment / ghost 011

$40.00
sold out

This 120ml espresso cup is slightly on the larger side, so perfect for a double shot espresso, macchiato, babycino or piccolo latte.

The hand-built nature of these pieces means they’re all unique, with subtle undulations in the clay and glaze that feel lovely in the hand. This vessel uses the nerikomi technique to mimic the striations in rocks, or the ripples in a bubbling brook. A layer of satin white glaze has been applied in an organic fashion which creates a subtle sheer pattern whilst allowing the raw clay underneath to peek through the gaps. After firing, the surface is sanded to a fine silky finish. The interior of the cup is glazed in a satin white glaze making it completely watertight.

Due to the way these cups are made, some very superficial cracks may be present on the outside. These are only surface deep and do not affect the functionality of the piece. All pieces have been tested for water tightness.

If your ceramic piece has areas that have not been glazed, as in the ‘sediment’ range, they have been treated with Liquid Quartz, which is a food safe, permeating sealer designed for use on unglazed ceramic ware.
